What is Pluralistic Counselling?

The basic principle of Pluralistic Therapy is that different people are helped by different processes and activities at different times, and that the best way to deciding how therapy should proceed is to engage with a client in a process of shared decision-making.

At the heart of Pluralistic Therapy is the intention to be clear as possible about what the client wants from therapy; identifying the client’s goals and then helping them to break their goals down into achievable tasks.

Once therapeutic tasks or areas of focus have been identified, it is helpful for the client and the therapist to explore the methods or techniques which they might use. Being a Pluralistic Psychotherapist, I draw on these skills to identify the right theories and methods to help support what clients bring to counselling.

Pluralistic therapy is about the relationship between client and therapist and recognising that the client is the expert to provide a framework for connecting these facts in the client’s interest, helping them to live a more content and prolific life.

It’s time to make a step forward.
